Miniature alabaster torso

Standing in contrapposto, the young boy here is nude apart from a mantle descending over his left shoulder. He leans upon a support on that side and carries a summarily rendered cornucopia. His right arm is bent sharply at the elbow and missing below mid-forearm. Although aptly conveying the chubby anatomy of prepubescence, the rear is relatively flat and summarily worked, perhaps indicating that the figure was incorporated in a larger group – perhaps even as architectural decoration. Struts connect the left side of the body with neighbouring support. Fine-grained white marble
