Formed of a length of multiple loop-in-loop chain, terminating in a hook-and-loop closure, the chain supporting a central crescent-shaped pendant flanked by two rectanfular pendants decorated with five hammered hemispheres

Some styles of Roman jewelry were both very long-lived and used throughout the Empire. The crescent pendant, symbolic of the moon, that decorate this necklace is often found in Roman jewelry and in depictions on Roman mummy portraits from Egypt.
